Janitor AI is character-first and free, and NSFW is allowed (it's off by default in the app, so you switch it on). If the built-in model doesn't suit you, you can bring your own. There are iOS and Android apps, and Janitor+ launched in June 2026 at $12.99 a month.

It's text only, with no images or video. The free tier runs on about 9K of context, and its best-known weakness is downtime.

Best for: browsing a huge bot library.

SpicyChat's pull is its huge community bot library, the closest thing here to C.AI's browse-and-chat habit. After a price rise on 8 September 2026 it's $5.95 a month or $60 a year, with a free tier that has ads and queues.

Group chat is you plus 2 to 10 bots, not friends. Images only come on the $19.95-and-up tier, there's no video, and the only app is an Android APK.

Kindroid launched Rooms on 23 September 2026: up to 10 people and 11 Kins in one space, where only subscribers can post. It also has live AI video calls, generally available since March 2026.

The catch for anyone leaving C.AI over the filter: erotic roleplay is allowed for verified adults on paid plans, but app stores ban nudity, and whether NSFW works in Rooms isn't documented.

Mozilla's *Privacy Not Included guide gave CrushOn.AI a warning in February 2024, citing about 45 trackers. That's a rating, not a breach.

Why the filter isn't coming off

People keep asking whether C.AI will add an adult mode. Going on what the company has published, nothing points that way.

The rule is written down. C.AI's community guidelines prohibit pornographic content and nudity. That's policy, not a setting.

Paying doesn't change it. c.ai+ is $9.99 a month or $94.99 a year on the App Store (as of October 2026), and it doesn't unlock sexual content, because there's nothing to unlock.

Every recent change has gone the other way. On 29 October 2025, C.AI announced that open-ended chat for under-18s would end, and it did on 25 November 2025. Teens got "Stories" instead. To tell who's who, C.AI uses age prediction plus verification through Persona, and per third-party reports, some adults got caught by date-of-birth prompts in August 2026.

For a mainstream app with teenage users, that's a defensible call. It also makes filter-bypass tricks a poor plan. Adults who want NSFW roleplay are better off on a platform built for it, and if your favorite C.AI nights were the group ones, that's what Worlds is for.
